DO NOT accept aloe vera with any of these additives:

Sorbitol: Hydrogenated glucose, this is a sugar alcohol used in cough syrups and can cause severe gastro-intestinal problems.

Ascorbic acid: Also known as E300, an acidifying inexpensive mass produced antioxidant.

Citric acid: Also known as E330, a preservative produced commercially by treating calcium citrate with sulfuric acid. Human intolerances are known, usually causing skin irritation.

Sodium benzoate: A preservative used in fizzy drinks identified as E211, and used as a fuel in fireworks to make them whistle. Concentrations in foods are strictly limited due to poor tolerances exhibited in animal studies.

N.B. Sodium benzoate in combination with ascorbic acid can form benzene, a known carcinogen capable of inducing unconsciousness at low levels, and proven to cause birth deformities in animal studies. The FDA is being called to use their authority to force companies to reformulate to avoid benzene formation.
